Biography

Dr. Keneko Claybon is a Mason native, pharmacist, and entrepreneur serving her hometown and the surrounding community. A pharmacist since 2009 with nearly two decades of pharmacy experience, she returned to Mason with a desire to invest in the community that raised her. Her journey as a baker began more than a decade ago through a fundraiser for Fredonia Baptist Church in Stanton, Tennessee. What began as a way to support her church grew into years of baking from home and ultimately a business of its own. In 2026, she brought her passions for pharmacy, baking, and community service together in a once-vacant building that originally served as Mason’s post office, giving new purpose to a piece of the town’s history.

Community impact

Through her work in Mason, Dr. Claybon has brought new healthcare services, local business activity, and community investment to Mason and the surrounding Tipton County community. The pharmacy gives residents convenient local access to prescription medications, personalized pharmacy care, preventive health services, and affordable medication options, reducing the need to travel outside the community for these services. The bake shop provides fresh baked goods and custom orders locally while creating another reason for residents to shop and spend within their hometown. Together, the businesses have brought new life to a long-vacant property, created opportunities for community connection, and demonstrated that meaningful investment and new business development are possible in a small rural community.

Accomplishments

In 2026, Dr. Keneko Claybon brought local pharmacy care back to Mason, a community that had been without a pharmacy for more than 40 years. She successfully opened SugarSpoon Hometown Pharmacy while also turning her passion for baking into SugarSpoon Hometown Bake Shop, creating two new locally owned businesses in her hometown. She transformed a long-vacant historic building into a productive commercial space and brought new business activity to the heart of Mason. Beyond building the businesses themselves, she hopes SugarSpoon can help show young people and others in the community that their ideas and dreams can become something real and that meaningful opportunities can be created right here at home.
